POLICE have confirmed the sudden death of a man at a Barrow industrial yard.
The man, aged in his 40s, was pronounced deceased by ambulance crews just after lunchtime on Thursday, May 12.
An investigation will now take place into the circumstances of his death, which is being treated as unexplained.
A spokesman for Cumbria Police said: "Police received a report from the North West Ambulance Service at 1.17pm today (12 May) of a sudden death at Wicks Yard on Scarth Road, Barrow-in-Furness.
"A man, aged in his 40s, from Barrow-in-Furness, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
"A joint investigation with the Health & Safety Executive is ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the incident.
"At this time, the death is being treated as unexplained."
Wicks Group is a firm that provides skip hire and recycling services in South Cumbria, located just off the A590 on Scarth Road.
It recently partnered with Shropshire-based Waste 2 Resource (W2R) to clear more than 15,000 tonnes of waste from an abandoned site at the Heysham Business Park, near Morecambe.
