A BARROW rugby club's catering business has officially closed its doors ahead of the launch of its new partnership with two popular food vendors.
Lincoln Burgers, a takeaway business owned by Barrow Raiders, officially closed its doors on Sunday after struggling to make a profit with customers in the area.
A spokesman from the business said: “Lincoln’s Burgers will be closing its doors on May 1 permanently.
“Although exciting times are ahead, with a new takeaway business that will be coming real soon, along with extensive and expansive changes to our kitchens.
“We would like to say a heartfelt thank you to all our customers that have supported us in the last two years, to all our suppliers and to all our staff that has been amazing, a stronger and better team forged from scratch that you wouldn’t find anywhere else. A team that started as colleagues that grew into a family.”
Chairman of Barrow Raiders Steve Neale was saddened by the closure but is excited about his new partnership with two popular takeaway businesses in the area.
He said: “We were struggling to be profitable with Lincolns so we have decided to rebrand and have a wider menu.
"We have joined forces with Viking Spice and Southward's Farm Shop of Askam to launch BBQ house.
"They are two businesses that have a good reputation and we are excited to start working with them."
Rowen McClure, from Viking Spice, has joined forces with Gavin Southward, from Southward’s Farm Shop in Askam, to create the new takeaway, BBQ House.
The pair saw a gap in the market for a takeaway that produces quality food whilst supporting the local community.
The duo and will be cooking from their new kitchen within the Matt Johnson Prestige stadium grounds.
The pair is inviting the public to Barrow Raiders on May 6 to try out their food and cocktails.
Mr Neale said: “On our launch night people can come to our marquee for free and sample the new menu and enjoy a free alcoholic or soft drink on arrival.
“There will be hand-made burgers and kebabs using meat sourced locally and seasonings from Viking Spice, hand-made vegan burgers, fresh sourdough pizzas plus much more.”
