TWO organisations in Cumbria have been awarded with the prestigious Queen’s Award for Enterprise.
The announcement came on April 21 that Alertacall Ltd and Chimney Sheep Ltd had both received their awards in the Innovation category.
The Queen’s Awards for Enterprise are the UK’s most prestigious business awards, offering recipients global acknowledgment that their company is outstanding in its field. Winners are invited to attend a Buckingham Palace reception and can use the Awards Emblem as an internationally recognised endorsement.
The Awards recognise and encourage the outstanding achievements of UK businesses in the fields of:
- Innovation
- International Trade
- Sustainable Development
- Promoting Opportunity through social mobility
Almost all UK businesses (including non-profit) can apply and the application process is free. All applications must be made online.
Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Cumbria, Mrs. Claire Hensman said: “I am thrilled that two of Cumbria’s outstanding companies, Alertacall Ltd and Chimney Sheep Ltd, have won the Queen’s Award for Enterprise for Innovation.
“This is an exceptional achievement and I do congratulate them.
"These awards raise the flag for Cumbrian companies.
“We have in Cumbria world-class companies who deserve and would benefit from the recognition that a Queen’s award would bring.
“I do hope that those companies who are eligible will take up the challenge to apply.
“There is evidence from previous winners that the international standing of the award brings tangible benefits to their business.”
