SquareMeal has released its list of Top 100 restaurants in the UK and L’Enclume has made the list.
Placing fifth overall, L’Enclume was recognised for its “amazing end-to-end experience”.
SquareMeal describes the atmosphere at the Cartmel restaurant as one of the most “relaxed” two Michelin star restaurants in the country.
The food takes inspiration from both nature and landscape to create meals worthy of a place on the Top 100.
Writing about the food at L’Enclume, SquareMeal wrote: “Rogan’s cooking is all about distilling the essence of flavour, allowing nature, landscape and the seasons to gel harmoniously on the plate. Everything revolves around produce from the chef’s organic farm, combined with foraging trips and an unswerving commitment to Lakeland ingredients. The result is a multi-course tasting menu, devised on the day and delivered in style by “fine-tuned” staff who are at the top of their game.”
It was recently awarded three Michelin stars.

SquareMeal is the UK’s leading independent restaurant guide and it deliberately excludes London restaurants to allow venues from around the UK to be recognised.
SquareMeal brings the Top 100 list together using thousands of reader votes and their own expert critics, featuring everything from fine dining experiences through to farm-to-table restaurants and gastropubs.
