'Hard decision' - Much-loved town centre restaurant to close doors
Bosses behind a town centre Italian have announced the restaurant will close its doors.
This is the last year of trade for Mario House in Barrow, bosses have revealed.
The Dalton Road restaurant first opened its doors in 2019 and marked three years of trading in October.
Last year, owner Ionut Dolocan announced plans to expand the business and open a café and shop, known as the Adina Café, in Dalton Road.
However, Mr Dolocan has now revealed the café, which was due to open this summer, will no longer go ahead.
Company to move to four day working week
A company is moving to a four-day working week in a bid to improve work life balance for employees, drive business productivity and reduce its carbon footprint.
LED lighting and electronics manufacturer Oxley Group will implement the new work structure from April 4 for a 12-month trial basis.
The move will cover the whole operation at the company’s head office site in Ulverston and the team will continue to operate a 37 hour week which will be worked on a flexible basis over four long days.

A ‘hugely’ useful measure that helped prevent ‘absolute chaos’ on Cumbria’s roads has not been renewed for another year.
Last year the Government extended permitted development rights, which allowed landowners to use their land as temporary car parks or camping sites for 56 days, rather than the usual 28 days.
However, the Government has decided not to extend the rights this year, which has caused concern for the area’s MP and the Lake District National Park Authority (LDNPA), who say the extension was ‘hugely helpful’ in reducing pressure on the county’s roads and established car parks.
CCTV coverage reviewed at hospital morgue after electrician abused dead bodies
Hospital bosses have reviewed security at Barrow's mortuary after an electrician was convicted of sexually assaulting dead bodies in Kent.
The NHS ordered all health trusts, including Morecambe Bay, to urgently review security practices at morgues after David Fuller was convicted of sexually abusing more than 100 female corpses at two hospitals where he worked.
NHS trusts were asked to urgently review CCTV coverage, all entry and access points controlled by swipe access, risk assessments and appropriate DBS check applications.
Body found in sea near Barrow believed to be missing man
THE body of a man has been found in the sea near Barrow.
Police believe it to be 57-year-old Kevin Long, who was reported missing.
Mr Long, from Preston, was last seen in Blackpool on March 20, police said.
Barrow Lifeboat, Cumbria Police and the North West Ambulance Service were called out on Saturday.
Mr Long's tragic death is not being treated as suspicious by officers.
