AS one truck returns home from a 3,000-mile trip to Poland, another one sets off with the mission of delivering life-saving aid to Ukraine.

Andrew Park and Mark James began the mammoth drive from Millom to Poland last week to deliver much-needed goods to the people of Ukraine.

The pair sailed to Holland before driving through Germany and into Poland to drop-off the lorry-full of supplies.

Just days earlier truck driver Dave Gordon and Cater Kwik boss Matthew Mayvers began their own 1,500 mile trek from Ulverston to Poland to donate much-needed goods to the people of Ukraine.

The pair made the 40-hour journey to the Ukraine/Poland border and drop vital supplies off for refugees after an outpouring of donations from the public.

Matthew is still in Poland handing out much-needed aid to refugees arriving in the country.

And on Thursday another Cater Kwik driver, Seth Dawson, began the journey from Ulverston to Poland with a truck full of supplies to join Matthew in Eastern Europe.

Millom drivers Andrew Park and Mark James returned to England yesterday after completing their 3,000 mile round-trip.

Mr Park, who is a partner at the family-run firm Pelleymounters in Millom, praised the kind-hearted public who have got behind the campaign and donated thousands to the cause.

The pair dropped off 26 pallets of goods in Poland that have been requested by the people, which include: face masks, theatre gowns, wheelchairs, prams, nappies, dried food and more.

“It was quite tiring getting there, it’s been a long two days,” Mr Park said.

“We’re hoping to be back in Millom by this evening. Everything ran really smoothly.

“People were really organised. Customs came to check everything in the lorry and everything luckily went to plan.

“Poland was amazing. It was such a shame that we saw it for this reason. We’d love to go back because we were really blown away by the country and all the infrastructure. It looked like an amazing place and we’d love to go back.

“Everyone’s been so welcoming and grateful for the support. Even though we can’t speak each other’s language, you can really see the gratitude.
