THE owner of a dog grooming salon has had success at a prestigious dog show.

Sandra Gibson added another title to her dog showing portfolio with her seven-year-old pooch Jody winning veteran dog then Best Pyrenean Mountain Dog veteran overall.

Ms Gibson, who owns Shampooch at StudioK9 in Bowness, has been showing at Crufts for many years and said Jody’s win was her 25th first prize at Crufts.

Jody was entered previously in 2020 when he won class in 2020.

The proud owner said: “It was just lovely, I felt very proud and it was amazing to be back.”

Ms Gibson, who lives near Newby Bridge, said she prepares Jody for competition with lots of exercise, good food and by keeping him happy.

She also sees other winners in her salon, including a miniature poodle who was ‘very highly commended’.

“It’s amazing to be preparing dogs for competition again following Covid,” said Ms Gibson.

“And I also prepared a dog for BBC1 Pooch Perfect last summer.”

Ms Gibson’s miniature poodle Ogo, who was three at the time of broadcasting, starred last year in the new BBC series which searched for the UK’s best dog groomer.

The young Ogo was no stranger to the spotlight, having made an appearance as a model demonstration dog at Crufts in March.
