FUNDRAISERS are 'thrilled' after receiving a trophy to celebrate raising hundreds of pounds through the Tour de Furness.
The cycling ladies of Barrow Inner Wheel Club rode the 13-mile Tour de Furness route last September and now they are celebrating winning third prize for raising £700 in sponsorship.
Joint Presidents Elaine Parker and Pam Dilks, Secretary/Club Correspondent Jane Smith, accompanied by their friend Val McKinley, who rode with them, were awarded a trophy at Roose Cons Club on Wednesday, February 23.
The Tour de Furness has been organised by the Rotary Club of Furness for the last 25 years, raising thousands of pounds for charity.
Jane said: "We had a wonderful ride in glorious sunshine in the company of good friends and this award is the icing on the cake and makes it all worthwhile.
"We were given £100 at the ceremony and we were delighted to donate it to St Mary's Hospice representative, Helen Carlson.
"We had a very enjoyable evening and we're thrilled with our trophy!"
