RUNNING enthusiasts are gearing up to celebrate a special anniversary.

Millom parkrun will celebrate its 200th run next weekend, and they want you to help them celebrate.

The fantastic milestone will be reached on February 26, and they're aiming to get 200 people to take to the course for 200@200.

The previous record for attendees is 91 people taking part.

A spokeswoman for the event said: "Millom used to be one of the toughest parkrun’s in the UK, but now we have our brand new Millom Community Track in place of the mud bath and it’s a much faster track for those keen to get a good time and easy underfoot for our wonderful walkers - sorry, no dogs allowed and no spikes please.

"We’ve teamed up with Millom Coastguard Rescue Team as HMCG are celebrating 200 years of saving lives along our coast, rivers and lakes and they are going to bring their wagon down to the track so people can see the kit they have and learn more about their amazing work.

"We’re always a very welcoming and friendly bunch so if you fancy helping us hit 200@200 please register and print off a barcode, and come along to walk, run, wheel, hop, stagger or cartwheel 5k on 26th February."

Runners can attend anytime after 8.30am for a 9am prompt start at Millom Hub on Salthouse Road.
