The family of a man who died following a collision last week have paid tribute to him.

68-year-old Donald Wood, from Askam, died on February 3 following the collision at Oxen Park, Ulverston.

Mr Wood’s partner Carol described the keen biker as ‘the love of my life’.

"Don was a biker - motorbikes, mountain biking, off road biking - and he also loved kite surfing, canoeing and adventures,” she said.

“He was someone who always enjoyed being outside.

"He loved going to Oulton Park track days with his son, Mark and enjoyed visiting the gym nearly every day. He also loved Northern Soul music.

"Don was a family man who loved his grandchildren and family. He loved life being on his motorbike and enjoyed socialising and telling stories. He enjoyed his computers and was a gadget man.

"He was just a lovely man, loved by many and was the love of my life."

Mr Wood’s son, Mark, said his father was always looking for the next adventure.

"My dad had a long list of hobbies - mountain biking, wind surfing, kite surfing, canoeing, skiing - anything that meant being outside regardless of the weather, with motorcycles being a lifelong love,” he said.

"He was always looking for the next adventure and the next hobby, he could research, buy all the equipment and then move onto the next one once he’d learnt it.

"Motorcycles were his love from being a child - riding on the back of his dad’s bike and then progressing to one of his own.

"He would ride most days, either on the road or looking for new green lanes on his off-road bike. He enjoyed watching bike racing on the TV and would always be my support in the pit lane when I was racing, or on track days.

"Above all though he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, if he could combine this with his hobbies then they were times he loved the most.

"He picked the grandchildren up from school and would take them for crazy adventures and treats each week. He enjoyed cycling and going to the gym pretty much every day."
