"WE'RE battering teams, playing-wise."

That was the message from a Barrow AFC player after the Bluebirds slumped to a disappointing home defeat to Bradford.

Despite having the lion's share of possession and registering 18 shots to Bradford's six, slack defending from Barrow allowed the visitors to end a run of seven matches without a win.

"We deserved a lot more," said Bluebirds player Remeao Hutton, who started the game on the right side of midfield, in an interview with Barrow AFC's website.

"I'm happy with the way that we played, but it's just the final touch that we're just missing now."

Bradford took the lead on eight minutes in Saturday's game through forward Lee Angol, who collected a defence-splitting pass from Alex Gilliead, took a touch and coolly dispatched the ball into the bottom corner.

Gilliead was also involved in the Bantams' second, which arrived on 49 minutes, getting the better of Matt Platt as the Bluebirds defender unsuccessfully tried to shepherd the ball out of play.

Gilliead prodded the ball to former Barrow player Andy Cook, who turned neatly to leave Platt and goalkeeper Paul Farman on the deck before firing home.

Barrow were back in the game just three minutes later - via a well-worked corner and a downward Josh Gordon header from a cross into a dangerous area - but were unable to grab an equaliser.

"Hopefully the luck turns around," said Hutton.

"At the moment, it feels like we're working so hard just to get that one goal.

"Then, if we work hard to get that one goal, we can't let little rubbish goals come against us."

Hutton was candid about his own performances after finding himself in an out of the side at times this season.

"It's frustrating and you want to play every game, but I understand I've been at fault for some of the goals as well," he said.

"But I think, going forward, everyone knows what I can do.

"I've just got to keep showing that I can get forward and just fix up at the back a bit.

"I just want to help the team really."

Barrow currently sit 19th in League Two - four points clear of the relegation zone - having played 23 games.

They travel to Championship club Barnsley for an FA Cup tie on Saturday.
