A NEW 24-hour gym - which cost more than £1m to create - has opened its doors, just in time for those looking to set personal fitness goals for the new year.
The Gym officially opened in Barrow's Cornerhouse Retail Park today after months of preparation and planning.
It is the first offering from The Gym Group in the town and will provide members with more than 100 pieces of high-spec training equipment over 9,000 square feet, including plate-loaded strength equipment, a large free weights area, Olympic lifting platforms, functional training spaces and cardio machines.
Highly-skilled and experienced personal trainers will also be on hand to help gym users achieve their fitness goals, whatever they may be.
Members will benefit from a range of unlimited free gym classes such as HIIT or circuits, perfect for both beginner and advanced gym goers.
The Gym will also bring new employment opportunities to the area, with 10 new members of staff being recruited for roles in personal training, management, and cleaning.
Chris Gleaves, General Manager of The Gym, in Barrow said: “We’re excited to open a fantastic new gym space in the town and hope to break down any barriers to fitness people from the local community may have to help them achieve their personal goals.
“The Gym Group welcomes people from all walks of life and with a dedicated team of personal trainers, we offer the ideal space to train, tone-up or improve overall fitness no matter who you are, your ability, shape or size.”
The Gym will continue its ‘Safe With Us’ policy to ensure health and safety measures are followed in line with current government guidance. This includes regular cleaning of gym and studio spaces, hygiene stations for members to wipe down benches and equipment, as well as hand sanitiser throughout the training space.
The Gym in Barrow is one of five gyms opened by the business nationwide on the same day including Oxford Headington, Bury St Edmunds, Glasgow Forge and London Staples Corner.
Barrow residents interested in boosting their health and fitness can also take up an introductory membership offer of £9.99 a month for the first six months and no joining fee. The offer is due to end on December 30.
