A NEW couple who took over behind the bar of a popular Ulverston pub offered a combined Scottish and Lancastrian welcome to customers in 2004.
Mandy Boyle, 38, who hailed from north of the border, and her partner Neal Southworth, from Preston, took over as landlords of the Old Farmhouse in Priory Road.
And they made their mark shortly after taking over the reins, by holding a charity event.
They were able to raise £1,400 for the tsunami disaster appeal.
At the time of taking over the pub, Mr Preston, 28, said his aim was to start providing meals as soon as possible based on new menu of Scottish cuisine.
Before Mandy and Neal took over the pub, it was first owned by a local couple Robert Parkinson and his wife Nicola.
Robert was a fully trained chef, and he and Nicola built up the popular pub.
