DOZENS of teachers from Furness and South Lakes will be joining a virtual session to revolutionise primary education.
A series of sessions designed to bring about change in education was attended by around 70 teachers this week.
Renowned education specialist Alex Bedford led the CPD sessions giving teachers an insight into the science of learning and tips for the classroom.
The event was organised by Furness College’s South Cumbria Multi-Academy Trust to support schools as they improve their learning offer for pupils and is the first in a series of six one-hour sessions.
Staff from the Trust’s member school Chetwynde were joined by those from Ormsgill, Barrow Island, George Romney, St Georges, Cambridge, Dent and Broughton primary schools along with Ulverston Victoria High School and the South Cumbria Pupil Referral Unit.
SCMAT Chief Executive Andrew Wren said: “There was a real focus away from the traditional approach of starting lessons with aims and objectives and a move to focusing on what the pupils know and building from there, particularly supporting the evolution of their vocabulary.
“I think people were really engaged in the presentation and we hope they found it beneficial.”
