A POPULAR Barrow café has re-opened in a new location after long awaited journey.
Smiler's Café reopened yesterday after a long awaited re-opening since they closed in July due to gas and electric supply on 45 Crellin Street, Barrow with a wide selection of breakfast favourites from their menu.
Smiler's owners, Barrow couple, Lisa Clark and Ismail Kaya who previously owned the Coffee Bean before revamping and relocating to a bigger store on Dalton road prior to moving to their current location said they are excited to be back.
Lisa said: “It has been a very successful but busy day for us.
“We have had a lot of support and couldn’t have re-opened without the help from local businesses helping us getting back up and running.
“It has been such a hard time for a lot of indepedent businesses and we were really let down by some businesses but the ones that managed to help were really significant and went above and beyond. The store is looking really good.”
Customers can place orders for breakfast this week from Monday – Saturday, 9am till 1pm on the Barrow eats app or by collecting from the store.
Due to the pandemic the pair decided they will just be offering takeaways instead of sit down meals as the pandemic requirements are constantly changing.
Lisa said: “We miss the sit ins as we made a lot of friends but being delivery only is the most successful decision for us as a business for now.
From next week Monday, December 6 the café menu will be featuring an exciting evening menu with a twist which people can order from 3pm till 10pm
Lisa said: “We’ve created some really amazing evening food items and dishes that we can’t wait to unveil.
“Treats ‘n’ eats will also be featuring on the menu, which are the amazing deserts that have been really popular.
“We are combining the two menus of sweet and savoury to offer a one stop shop menu where customer who may fancy both can order them all from one place.
“We think it’s a niche idea which not many places have so we can’t wait to see how that goes.”
