THE South Lakeland District Council will be providing free parking to its residents.
From Sunday 28 and every Sunday throughout December free parking will be provided to tourists and residents in all SLDC car parks.
The offer applies to the Westmorland Shopping Centre Car Park in Kendal and all pay-and-display car parks operated by SLDC in the district, with the specific exceptions of the Brewery Arts Centre and Kendal College pay-and-display car parks in Kendal and Miller Bridge car park in Ambleside.
Councillor Robin Ashcroft, Portfolio Holder for Economy, Culture and Leisure, said: "We make this offer every year to show our support for the diverse, unique and vibrant shops in our towns and villages in the run-up to Christmas.
"I would appeal to everybody looking to do some Christmas shopping to support their local shops and use our free parking offer to take the time to experience all the brilliant amenities and attractions these places have to offer."
