A COLLGE trust is offering primary schools across the area the opportunity to revolutionise their curriculum.
The South Cumbria Multi-Academy Trust (SCMAT) which is led by Furness College, is hosting a series of weekly virtual CPD sessions for teachers, led by renowned education specialist Alex Bedford, starting this month.
Alex designed a curriculum model called Curriculum with Unity Schools Partnership (CUSP), based upon international research into the science of learning. CUSP has been selected by the SCMAT’s Primary Consultant Caroline Vernon to roll out at Chetwynde School under the Trust partnership.
SCMAT Chief Executive Andrew Wren said the aim of the sessions is to support schools to improve and complement their learning offer for pupils.
He said: “This online training initiative is part of the South Cumbria Multi-Academy Trust’s investment in its primary provision and its work to share nationally acclaimed best practice across the community.
“We know our local schools have great ambitions for their pupils and CUSP has been identified as a curriculum and teaching and learning approach that really underpins this outcome.”
Furness College launched the South Cumbria Multi-Academy Trust in March 2021 in a move to strengthen education across the area.
