Here at UVHS Sixth Form we pride ourselves on ensuring all of our students receive a superb education taught by subject experts with a strong academic pedigree. Every year, the vast majority of our students go on to study at some of the country’s most prestigious universities, including those in the Russell Group, music conservatoires or specialist art, drama and dance colleges. In addition, we have an excellent track record helping our most academically able students to succeed in applications to study Medicine, Veterinary Science, Law or go on to undergraduate courses at Oxford and Cambridge University.

Although our Sixth Form is part of the main school we strive to ensure our students have access to their own purpose-built facilities. Sixth Formers at UVHS have access to their own common room, study areas and computing suites. All our students are assigned to a specific form group and form tutor; we aim to provide a supported learning environment with the highest standard of pastoral care and ensure all feel settled and included when they join us in September.

Around half our cohort join UVHS Sixth Form from other secondary schools in the area and we also welcome international students too. Transport links are excellent, with the school site located just 250 metres from the town’s train station, making it straightforward for students living in our largely rural community to reach us.

Results in recent years have been very strong and a large number of our students are attracted by our reputation for outstanding teaching, particularly in subjects like Mathematics, the Sciences, Computer Science, Law and Music. We offer more than 20 different A-levels enabling students to gain higher/degree apprenticeships, particularly with firms such as BAE and Sellafield. A wide variety of extra-curricular activities are available, including in the performing arts, Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award, Extended Project Qualification and Vic Medics.
