A man was splattered with human faeces while in his garden after a plane overhead dumped its toilet, a council meeting has heard.
Planes will typically store toilet sewage in special tanks on flight and will dispose of them once landed.
The resident said human waste was dropped as the plane passed overhead in Windsor back in July, which is one of the main flight paths in and out of Heathrow Airport.
‘Splattered in a very unpleasant way’
Councillor Karen Davies was “horrified” after a member of the public contacted her about a “dreadful incident” in Berkshire.
Speaking to the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead's aviation forum, she described how the man – who has not been named – was “splattered in a very unpleasant way”.
She said: She said: "I know a number of incidents happen every year with frozen sewage from planes, but this wasn't frozen and his whole garden was splattered in a very unpleasant way.
"He was out in the garden at the time, so a really horrible, horrible experience."
She added: "Hopefully it never happens again to any of our residents."
John Bowden, the councillor for Eton and Castle - covering Windsor Castle - called it a 'one in a billion chance'.
He suggested the 'warm weather meant the excrement could have come out as a more fluidy item'.
Whitfield parish councillor Geoff Paxton, who has worked at airports for 40 years, said what happened was 'very rare' and one he had not seen in a long time.
Cllr Davies said the resident had decided not to pursue an insurance claim.
She said: "Obviously he wasn't going to do that for the sake of a couple of garden umbrellas, in terms of bumping up his premium, so he's just sort of had to take it on the chin.”
