THE 'no jab, no job' policy soon to be in force across England for care home workers has been labelled 'a tough one'.

Care workers have until November 11 to be double jabbed, or they face being banned from entering care homes in England.

Kamal Siddiqi, business manager of The Old Vicarage, based in Grange, said not enough time had been given to inform staff of their choices, or for replacement staff to be found.

He said: "My personal opinion is that it has happened too fast and that they haven't done enough of an information campaign. You can find things online but it is all confusing and contradicting.

"I am going to lose experienced staff if I can't find information for them. This is a cause for concern because it's hard to recruit at the moment as it is."

Nicola Ann Johnson said: "Care homes are struggling getting carers now its no jab no job. It's an absolute joke and forcing carers to have the jab to keep their job is blackmail.

"The residents are jabbed so they are protected. If a resident doesn't want the jab, will they be kicked out of the care home?"

April Podmore said: "This is a tough one, I work in a care home and I have had both vaccines, I would have had them even if I hadn't worked there, I feel for those who don't want them especially if they love their job."

Janine Adams said: "Will potentially end in a already stretched service being even more stretched, with people not getting the care they deserve due to staff shortages.

"There are other ways to manage this than sacking people."

Beth Rory Olliver said: "There wasn't no concern from the government when us carers where risking our life and our families life when going back home after a 13 hour shift with little to no PPE looking after Covid patients!"
