ULVERSTON welcomed a famous face to its town after broadcaster and former politician Michael Portillo was spotted filming his latest travel series.
Portillo, a former chief secretary to the treasury and defence secretary, was seen filming the latest series of his show 'Great British Railway Journeys,' in Ulverston's Market Street on Saturday.
His broadcast series include railway documentaries such as Great British Railway Journeys and Great Continental Railway Journeys.
During filming of the 14th series of the show, the former Tory MP was spotted disembarking a train at Ulverston Station.
The TV presenter had also been spotted leaving a train at Arnside Train the day before.
A spokesman for Arnside & Silverdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty said: "We’ve had our share of famous visitors in the AONB and now Arnside has welcomed Michael Portillo.
"Our photo of him on Arnside Station doesn’t show him carrying his famous Bradshaw’s but I’m sure he will find lots to discover in our area. Welcome Michael."
Great British Railway Journeys will be broadcast at some time next year.
