READERS have had their say after it was revealed a former Barrow nightclub had been on the market for more than two years.

The building in Lawson Street, formerly occupied by Skint nightclub, was originally put up for sale for £300,000 before estate agency Corrie and Co reduced the cost to £175,000 last year.

Mail readers gave their thoughts after being asked if they knew of any takers for the site.

Emily Bispham said: “I can’t imagine who would want to buy it?

“An old church in total disrepair, I reckon it would take years to get the floor un-sticky. It floods, and is generally not in a great spot.”

Simon Kenny said: “Imagine the charity shop you could get in there.”

Anthony Chapman said: “Went to my first rave there, when it was Eclipse.”

Adam Chadwick said: “Could turn it into a casino.”

Steve Smith said: “Adam Chadwick, I’ve been saying this for years.”

Marion Brockbanks said: “Nobody can afford it because they’re skint!”

Darren Gill said: “Charity shop or coffee shop.”

Stephen Gibson said: “Nah I’m skint.”

Lee Thompson said: "It was always flooding when it was open.”

The hunt is still on for a buyer for the former nightclub, which was called Scorpio before it became Skint.

A description by Corrie and Co says: “Self-contained and detached premises, originally a chapel.

“More recently Scorpio and then Skint nightclubs.

“Freehold premises with vacant possession.

“The property has been closed for a number of years, does require refurbishment.

“Enjoying a prominent location facing the town hall and retail parks.

“Of serious interest to prudent investors, possible change of use, subject to planning.”
