READERS have reacted after Lodore Falls Hotel & Spa, near Keswick was crowned as the ‘Best Countryside Getaway’ in the whole of the UK.

The luxury hotel scooped the title at the 2021 Good Spa Guide Awards.

Finalists were announced earlier in the year and the 4-star Lake District hotel was shortlisted for the best countryside getaway up against nine other spa hotels across the UK.

The contenders for this category were each selected on the grounds of providing peace and quiet, great views and plentiful relaxation spots to its spa guests.

Grumpy fish said: "The hotel is probably great for those with the means to be able to afford to stay there.

"However the headline and then the title of the award don't fit together, as the hotel was only judged against other "spa" hotels.

"There are bound to be any number of non spa "Countryside Getaway Hotels" equally as good in respect of countryside and peace and quiet."

Bonkersbarrow said: "Those unflattering grey outfits don't exactly scream "good spa guide".

KBunting said: "Over £250 pound per night for a standard room!!!!"

Grassgarth said: "It can be but cheaper ones are also available."

Steve Wadds said: "That's not exactly expensive these days. A lot of places are well over that, Seaham Hall for example."
