HEROES of the community were crowned last night during the first ever Pride of Cumbria awards.
The awards ran by the News & Star, The Mail, The Cumberland News, The Westmorland Gazette, the Times & Star, The Whitehaven News and the Cumberland and Westmorland Gazette were designed to help thank those who help to make Cumbria the amazing place that it is.
Radio DJ Danny Matthews revealed the winners of 11 categories from Educational Hero of the Year to NHS worker of the year and Neighbour of the Year.
Vanessa Sims, editor of News & Star, The Mail, The Cumberland News, The Westmorland Gazette, the Times & Star, The Whitehaven News and the Cumberland and Westmorland Gazette, said: "In every corner of Cumbria extraordinary people have gone the extra mile to help the community around them and last night was the perfect opportunity to thank them all.
