CROWDS will be able to enjoy films under the stars once again this summer as an outdoor cinema returns following popular demand.

Alfresco Flicks Outdoor Cinema is set to return to Ford Park in Ulverston this August and September with a number of classic films, live music, DJs and other magical family friendly entertainment.

The joint venture from three local lads, Dave Crossley, Bryn Tyson, and Jamie Graham, sold out every night of their debut weekend back in August 2020 and is now back by popular demand .

Mr Crossley said: "It was such a special occasion last summer. Tickets sold out within a few hours of them being made available and the response to the three nights was quite overwhelming.

"We had so many requests to return and we now can't wait to get back to it and enjoy an evening under the stars with everyone again."

Between August 20 and 22, the outdoor cinema will be showing The Blues Brothers, Labyrinth and Dirty Dancing.

And between September 10 and 12, the Goonies, Beetlejuice and Rocketman will be put on the big screen.

On August 21, the event will be opening earlier and starting at 4pm with shows, workshops, stilts, hoops and fire from Matrix Circus as well as performances from drum band The Deatbeats, live music from Lancaster's Manfredis and Jo Ripley from Barrow's Sun Kings as well as DJs playing lots of Bowie. There is also an optional Masquerade dress code for this event.

The trio hopes the event will raise much-needed funds for charity.

Mr Crossley said: "It was pretty devastating for us to have to cancel Another Fine Fest again and we really felt for our chosen charities who will have lost so much income due to Covid 19.”

Each event will be dedicated to a different local cause including St Mary's Hospice, Ulverston Food Waste Project and The Well. Tickets are available at alfrescoflicks.co.uk
