READERS have told of their excitement after the opening of a new family attraction.

The Maize Maze in Ulverston is the latest venture from the Cumbrian Cow Ice Cream shop.

It has proved a hit following its opening on Saturday.

Tickets to the launch sold out the night before the opening, with families eager to try out the new attraction.

And Mail readers backed the new attraction on social media.

Writing on Facebook, Pamela Burton said: "Looks Amazing."

Anita Baker said: "I went yesterday, it was great."

Vicki Higham joked: "I might need to borrow a child to give me a reason to go."

And Alice Walsh tagged friends and family, saying: "We should go to this."

Mitch Walsh said in response: "Hell yes."

Anna and Tom Stable, who work on the dairy farm behind the ice cream shop, are running the maze.

Anna said: “We've had people say that they have really enjoyed it, and that it was lovely to have lots of space for the kids to run around, and that they really enjoyed the maze and the quizzes through it.

"It's a chance to get kids running about and get their brains working as well."

The maze will reopen on Saturday, when it will then be open seven days a week.

Anna said the maze was big DIY project for the pair.

"We are really chuffed with it - we did it ourselves!," she said.

"We looked to get a company involved to do it, but decided to have a go ourselves.

"My husband made a spreadsheet to map it out and I designed it. We went in the field with a measuring wheel and some hoes and spent two weeks hoeing it out!"

One of the first families to navigate the maze were Darren Clarke and his two sons Isaac and Luca.

They said: “We’ve had a brilliant day, but next time we might not wear white trainers!”
