READERS have had their say after a Dalton resident bashed Cumbria County Council's pothole repairs, calling on them to do a 'proper job'.
Dave Taylor, who is a member of the Dalton Community Action group, says the fixed potholes on Lancaster Street, Prince Street and Devonshire Street are still posing problems for motorists and will one day cause an accident.
Margaret Clarke said: "The road out of the range is awful. There are a few really big potholes there, they are going to cause a lot of damage to somebody's car if they are not sorted soon."
Neil Sansom said: "Patch and run. Will be back in six months to fix the same but bigger pothole. Yes it takes more time, money and resource to do a proper job but in the long term it works out cheaper. #onceanddone."
Lesley Sedgwick Fursey said: "Ah, that's called a repair?! Right."
Lucy Ann Smith said: "The ones by Asda were not fixed at all any of the times they did them, it’s a waste of money they need to do it better first time."
Anthony Perkins said: "Cheap way of repair, merely patch it over with hot tarmac that's been heated with a propane gas torch, pat it flat with a wakker plate and roll it, then with extremes of hot and cold, wet and dry, rain and snow, frost and ice it contracts and expands, cracks and washes away over time looking awful!"
William Janet Hughes said: "What pot hole repairs?"
Barrow Lad said: "Not right getting away with this shoddy work and all coming out of your council tax."
Hang Em Up said: "Same in Barrow might as well just throw a bucket of sand in might last as long."
Walt2017 said: "I think it sums up the quality of the tradesmen to day what trades man leaves work of such shoddy quality no pride in their work."
Sweetwilliaminjune said: "It's not just DALTON, I'm in Barrow, I reported & sent photos of pothole around the size of a dustbin lid, 20 May Looks bigger than the one pictured getting bigger daily. It is opposite where I park my car and is damaging the wheels and tyres on my car."
