A NUMBER of schools in Barrow have made the decision to allow children to start later on Monday as football looks like it might finally come home.
England take on Italy in the final of the European Championship on Sunday evening and, with kick-off at 8pm, children across the town could be in for a late night.
A spokesman for St George’s Primary School in School Street said the registration window on Monday morning would be between 8.40 and 10.30am ‘due to the growing possibility of football coming home’.
The spokesman described it as ‘potentially a once in a lifetime event’ and ‘something the children will always remember’.
“Please help us by working within these guidelines and making sure your child comes to school within that time,” he said.
A spokesman for Roose Primary School in North Row said: “Due to England playing the final on Sunday evening, we appreciate that some children will want to stay up late and watch the game.
“Therefore, on Monday, school will be open from normal time (including breakfast club from 8am for those who attend) but the register will not close until 10.15am.
“If your child arrives at school after their normal registration time they should come in through the main front entrance.
“They will not be registered as late or absent if they arrive before 10.15am.
He added: “Come on England.”
St Pius X Catholic Primary School in Schneider Road will also be making allowances for later arrivals.
