THE MAIL readers have had their say as the search is on for a new tenant of an empty Barrow Town Centre store.
The empty premises is the former base of the town's Thorntons cafe.
The Portland Walk property has now been listed for sale for £40,000 following it's closure last year.
The retail space is described as being in 'prime location' in the town in the listing for the space by Peill and Co estate agents.
One reader of The Mail wished that the chocolate sellers had stayed put at the store, whilst another wondered how another business would be able to get good trade.
Sharon Smith said: "Wish it was still Thorntons."
Keith Baldwin said: "If you cannot sell chocolate, you have no chance with soup."
A number of readers came up with a wide variety of suggestions for the type of businesses they thought should take over the store, from charity shops to big name brands and restaurants.
Darren John McSweeney said: "Archies."
Ange O'Halloran said: "Millies Cookies or Lush."
Janice Jackson said: "M&S food outlet please."
Marion Hardy said: "Bakery, cake shop, tea shop."
Fay Johnson said: "Charity shop, barbers, takeaway or turn into flats.
"Surely that's what Barrow needs."
Darren Jefferson said: "Nando's."
Dez Gawne said: "Another takeaway."
GP Rose said: "Another pub."
Mike Cronin said: "Nandos."
Garth west said: "Perfect location for a charity shop."
