Gift emporium and hamper stall opens in Market Hall.

LS free, paraben free, animal cruelty free, vegan and all handmade from accredited small businesses, Elsvia is the newest stall to open up at Barrow indoor market.

Owner of the new market stall, Susy Scholes-Holborn, who had just recently moved from Preston to Barrow ready to settle down with her partner Stephen Bamber said she is excited for this new chapter in her life.

"So far it's been a bit chaotic, it’s been a hectic couple of weeks but I can't wait to see where it goes.

Susy who is originally from Scotland but grew up in Africa started making hampers around Christmas time a few years ago and due to her previous job, as an aromatherapist she has always been into candles and incense and said her interest in starting the business progressed from their.

"My mum got diagnosed with cancer a couple of years ago, and I became her career and so I had to give up work, but I was going insane.

"When you’ve always worked it’s really hard not to work so I needed something that I could do working from home so I started my hamper and gift business but, I had to stop doing that because my mum became too ill and then she went into a home.

"When I moved to Barrow to be with my partner, I thought 'right lets go for it' if you don’t go for it, you’re never going to know."

Mother, Suzy said she prides herself in all products being from local businesses and of top quality as that is what is important to her as a business owner.

"I don’t like cruelty to animals, I’m a massive animal lover, my family are too and I just don’t see why you’d test them on animals and not humans.

"I think it’s really important to state with what's going on at the moment that people are becoming more conscience about what they are putting on their skin.

"For me if I put anything on my skin I want it to be safe and good.

"I’m not really into mass produce companies I like to support small local business

"All my products come from local business – it’s really important for me to support them and that they are all accredited and they’ve got all the qualifications an everything is done properly."

Susy got the name for her new stall from the two beautiful women in her life, her mum, Elsie and her partners mum, Sylvia and came up with Elsvia.

She said: "They're 2 beautiful women in the family and it makes such a pretty name, it makes me more determined as well to do them proud.

You can visit Elsvia in the market every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday for all your special gift needs.
