A MOTOWN and Northern Soul event will return to Barrow Park this summer.
Summer Soul in the Park is returning in full force this month with funds going towards Action for Children.
The event will return to Barrow Park Bandstand on July 18 and admission is free.
All the DJs will be playing the best of ‘Soul Music’ from vinyl only - from Stax to Motown to Northern and Modern Soul.
Event-goers are encouraged to bring their own picnics, chairs, blankets and gazebos.
Festival organiser Brian George said: “The DJ’s spend hundreds of pounds on their vinyl collections, so it is well worth coming down, and relive some of the memories from the FCYC, Legion, Penny Farthing, Torch, Wheel, Wigan Casino, and the Mecca.”
Residents from all over Furness traditionally attend the event, with last year’s festival marking the first event in the town and county to take place since the Covid-19 lockdown was announced in March.
More than 600 festival-goers attended last year’s festival which featured the best of Barrow’s soul DJs in a day filled with motown, club classics, jazz funk, fusion and more. This year’s event starts at noon until 8pm.
