READERS have had their say on problem areas in Barrow after a number of 'near misses' outside schools.

Councillor for Hindpool and cabinet member for Children's Services, Anne Burns has said changes need to be made before 'something more serious' happens.

John Eccles said: "It's a problem right across the town! Also a few delivery drivers speeding up Crellin St which is one way! They also go wrong way down it to save two mins. It's only a matter of time before someone is injured or killed. There was a crash there the other week. I have a sweet shop on Crellin St and it worries me as we have kids coming to our shop."

Fred Liz Chatfield said: "Roose school has the same problem, children trying to cross Leece Lane or Rampside Road, take their life into their hands every day. Drivers do not slow down or give way. We need school crossing back, never mind withdrawing the funding from them."

Anne Walker said: "Friars Lane is terrible they fly up the road a stupid speeds at times, Monks Brow is a speedy cut through road they need to be slowed down."

GP Rose said: "Yes some drivers seem to think Michaelson Road is a motorway for some bizarre reason."

Ivy Brookes said: "Should have done something years ago like put crossing out side schools."

Barbara Harris said: "Seen some dreadful driving on the Coast Road recently."

Sylvia Stoker said: "Crooklands Brow in Dalton is like a race track."

Nige Cooper said: "Urswick Road, Ulverston, is so bad, even worse at school drop off times!"
