CALL OUT: Coniston Mountain Rescue Team was sent out
A MOUNTAIN rescue team was called out after reports of an abandoned tent in a slate mine.
Coniston Mountain Rescue Team was despatched to the Old Man Quarries in Coniston on Sunday afternoon after a tent was spotted the previous day in one of the slate mines.
A spokesman for CMRT said: "Two members went for a walk to check it out, relevant levels were checked and it appears that the tents had been removed in the intervening period.
"False alarm – good intent. The incident took two hours."
