THE High Sheriff of Cumbria visited Dalton on Wednesday.
Whilst visiting the town, the current sheriff, David Beeby, went to Dalton Community Centre and was impressed by the facility.
The High Sheriff said: "It is just fantastic and right at the heart of the community.
"It is hugely impressive that something that in another could have become derelict, has now been developed into a fantastic community centre.
"There are so many opportunities there for residents to get together and do things in their community.
"It can be a lonely world at times and it is important for people to have a place to meet."
Organised by Barry Doughty from the Dalton Community Association, the High Sheriff also met Dalton mayor Craig Fox.
