MAIL readers have voiced their concerns over new holiday regulations.
With the news that PCR Covid testing is now mandatory for anyone going overseas this year, readers have shared how the latest ruling has affected their holiday plans.
Many countries now insist people must have a negative Covid test before entering the country. Under a new traffic light system that is being introduced in the UK you will also need to have a series of tests when you return.
The Mail readers have commented on whether they would be willing to pay the fees for the PCR test in order to get away this year.
Tracy Hawdon was Smith said: “No, but will in September next year.”
Ash Howson said: “Definitely. Done my bit so it’s time the government fulfilled their side of the bargain. 'Get the vaccine, get your life back' was the promise.”
Jean Wilson said: “Don’t think anyone should travel yet – it’s still flaring up in places.”
Gill Park said: “Not a chance.”
Darren Gill said: “Why travel abroad when there are so many nice and beautiful places around the UK to visit?”
The Polymerase Chain Reaction tests (PCR tests) are seen as the “gold standard” when it comes to testing and are different to the lateral flow tests available for free from the NHS.
Anyone who needs a PCR test will have to pay for one and some places are charging more than £100.
You should not use the NHS testing service to test yourself before a holiday and the government has asked that you arrange a private test.
