MILLOM Co-op have donated £200 to a local community education group.
The supermarket donated the funds to Millom STEM group which works with schools to offer support, education, and training on STEM subjects.
Co-op store manager Faye Hoggarth said the shop chose to give the donation after visiting Millom Network Centre, home of the STEM group.
She said: “On a visit to the centre I noticed the trophies, awards that George and Tony put into the sessions and felt they would really benefit from a little help.
“The projects they run are so interesting and are lots of fun for the young adults attending whilst they are also learning at the same time.
“In giving them a bit of recognition hopefully their groups will continue to grow
The group teaches children about science, technology, engineering, and mathematics through practical projects..
STEM group mentor George Burch said: “It was great that the Co-op decided we were a worthy cause for the donation.
“We use a lot of consumable materials in our projects and it’s essential we don’t run out as we wouldn’t be able to keep going without them.
“Financial donations like this keep us in business and we’re really thankful to the Co-op for their kind donation”.
