UP to 50 riders are being sought as Deliveroo launches in Barrow.
The takeaway delivery app is launching in town ‘this week’, the company has announced.
A host of restaurants and supermarkets will be available to order from on the app, including national chains and local favourites.
It will add to a growing list of takeaway delivery apps available in Barrow.
Barrow Eats has seen success working with several well-loved takeaways and restaurants in the town and has expanded the business across the country.
Deliveroo will also follow Just Eat, Uber Eats and Foodhub who also offer the service in the town.
The expansion into comes as Deliveroo announced plans to extend further into the suburbs of existing cities or towns that it currently operates in.
The app will deliver to Walney and Dalton, the company has said.
The drive behind the expansion is underpinned by the company’s belief ‘that people in every part of the UK should have access to amazing meals wherever and whenever they want them’.
A spokesman said: “The launch will be a major boost to small restaurant businesses across Barrow who will be able to reach new customers and grow their restaurant businesses through offering delivery.
“Working with Deliveroo increases restaurants’ sales as they can reach a wider range of customers.
“This enables restaurants to expand their businesses, often employing more staff, broadening their menus and lengthening opening times as a result.
“Those who work as riders will be able to work when they want and where they want, delivering food and groceries to customers’ doors in as little as 30 minutes.
Berenice Cowan, Head of UK Expansion for Deliveroo said; “We can’t wait to bring everyone great food from local and national favourites, and to help local chefs reach new customers.
“Hungry foodies, here we come.”
Outlets on the app are: Co-operative; Morrisons; KFC; Pizza Hut; Subway - Dalton Road; Subway - Hindpool Retail; Milkshake Madness; Purdy's Bakehouse; Dallas Chicken and Pizza; Royal Kebab; Sweets Aplenty; The Hot Potato and The Hot Potato Kebab House
