Businesses have been recognised by the High Sheriff of Cumbria for facing the coronavirus pandemic head-on.
Julie Barton has awarded a number of businesses in the area High Sheriff of Cumbria Business Innovation Special Performance Certificates.
Members of the public were asked to nominate businesses who went above and beyond throughout the pandemic.
The special performance certificates went to the businesses because of the 'remarkable ways in which they have confronted the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic since March 2020'.
In Barrow, Skills Shop, a training provider based on Derry Street, Shepherds Farmshop, a butchers based on Harrogate Street and Conlons of Barrow Opticians & Hearing care on Dalton Road were rewarded for their hard work.
Those who were rewarded in Ulverston included electrical safety experts Bender UK Ltd, based at the Old Tannery, and Oxley Developments on Priory Road.
A number of butchers, cafes and brewers were also awarded.
They were The Hot Mango Cafe on King Street, Irvings Butchers on Market Street, Lakeland Brewhouse on Low Mill Business Park and Shed 1 Distillery along North Lonsdale Road.
Lakeland Inns and care agency Reliacare were also handed the awards.
Daniel Cooper Art in Askam and Wax Lyrical in Lindal also received the certificate.
Mrs Barton said: "Thank you for making Cumbria a great place to live and work.
"The communities of Cumbria rely on their businesses for jobs, innovation, community support and prosperity.
"Through these awards I am delighted to thank, acknowledge, and celebrate those business teams who have innovated, supported others, and demonstrated great resilience.
"I encourage everyone to support local – let’s be there for our fantastic local businesses."
The panel of judges for the awards were very impressed with the many creative ways in which the businesses had adapted their business models, protected their teams and customers and supported others in the community.
