A MAN has been made the subject of a restraining order banning him from contacting his partner’s mother.
Jordan Lee Cleasby admitted he harassed Samantha Sim with persistent messages and phone calls before he turned up at her home.
The 26-year-old defendant had been trying to contact his partner following a ‘tiff’ between the pair.
Cleasby, of Dundonald Street in Barrow, admitted that he harassed the mum on October 22 when he appeared at South Cumbria Magistrates’ Court.
Prosecutor Rachel Dixon said: “The victim is a lady called Samantha Sim. Her daughter is in a relationship with the defendant.
“He tried to contact Samantha’s daughter.
“He then decided to start contacting Samantha. He sent 13 Facebook message, three Snapchat message and made three phone calls.
“The defendant wanted to know where Samantha’s daughter was.
“Towards the end of the evening she has said ‘enough now’ and blocked the defendant.
“Despite this she has received two phone calls and another message asking where she is.
“The defendant then attended Samantha’s home address.
“She asked him to leave and she called the police.”
In a victim personal statement read in court, the mum said the incident had had a ‘massive effect’ on her and her family.
“I believe it has had a dramatic effect on myself mentally, physically and emotionally,” she added.
“I have had countless sleepless nights.
“My youngest daughter was extremely frightened when this happened at our home.”
In mitigation, solicitor Karen Templeton told the court: “The starting point is an apology on the defendant’s behalf.
“His behaviour on the night was completely unacceptable.
“He had gone to the pub and his girlfriend Rebecca had been trying to reach him. She was annoyed that he was in the pub.”
She added: “Because he had a bit to drink he tried to contact her because he wanted to talk to her. She had turned off her phone because she didn’t want to speak to him.
“He is sorry about what happened.”
Cleasby was sentenced to a 5pm-to-5am curfew for eight weeks.
He is prohibited from contacting his partner’s mother of visiting her home under the order.
