A PROLIFIC shoplifter has found himself again before a court.
Marc Woods has been convicted of shoplifting again he stole items from Asda in Barrow.
The 43-year-old admitted shop theft when he appeared at South Cumbria Magistrates’ Court.
Woods, of Abbey Road in Barrow, stole Joop aftershave and a Joop gift set, together worth nearly £80, from the Walney Road supermarket on October 22.
The court heard Woods had stolen the items at around 3pm.
Magistrates sentenced him to a fine of £80 and told him to pay compensation of £79.98 to the supermarket.
Woods appeared in court recently after he stole meat products worth £38 from Heron Foods in Barrow.
South Cumbria Magistrates’ Court heard that Woods stole from the Portland Walk shop on December 31.
Woods, of Abbey Road in Barrow, was due to stand trial over the charges but changed his plea to guilty.
He also admitted breaching a suspended sentence order imposed on October 29, around a month before he reoffended.
He was handed the 14 weeks in prison suspended for two years after he stole clothes from Sports Direct.
Woods also appeared in court in January after he attempted to break in and burgle Mexican bar Arribar in Barrow town centre - only to be foiled by a locked door.
The court heard the incident happened just after 2am on July 4 at the Mexican bar in Cavendish Street.
"The defendant tried to apply force in an attempt to gain entry to the door and this has caused the door to crack," prosecutor George Shelley said.
"This was entirely captured on CCTV and the defendant was identified by the police from the images and arrested at his home."
The court heard in January that Woods had 46 previous convictions for 91 offences.
Woods was jailed for two days in May last year after he stole socks and a slow cooker from Morrisons, two days after a release from prison.
