A MAN has been jailed for 22 weeks after sending abusive messages to Barrow residents.
Peter John Cunliffe sent a series of messages and posts via Facebook to both a business page and to personal accounts, a court heard.
Many of the messages were of a racial nature, it was said. There were three victims.
The 50-year-old appeared at South Cumbria Magistrates’ Court in Barrow on Tuesday where he was issued restraining orders lasting until February 9, 2023.
The orders mean he cannot approach David Oznus and Amy Fenton by any means - either directly or indirectly. He was also ordered not to approach Furness House on Duke Street or the Tech Lab on Dalton Road.
Cunliffe, of Sandylands in Morecambe, was also told to pay £400 in compensation to his victims.
He pleaded guilty to six charges - all relating to malicious communications towards Amy Fenton, David Oznus and Kleanth Labbo.
