PRIME Minister Boris Johnson has praised vaccination teams in Cumbria.
In a Downing Street conference held today Mr Johnson paid tribute to teams in the county, as well as to others in the North West who have already vaccinated a huge number of vulnerable residents.
He said: "I pay particular tribute to the vaccination efforts going on in Cockermouth in Cumbria, Yateley and Cheltenham where they have vaccinated around 90 per cent of the over 80s in their communities.
"Also, I pay tribute to North West Lincolnshire, Sunderland and Morecambe Bay where vaccination teams have protected over 80 per cent of their care home residents."
The prime minister also thanked doctors, nurses, the armed forces, local authorities, pharmacies and volunteers for the hard work that they are doings, stating it was thanks to them that we are steadily building up protection and immunity "for the vulnerable, for the NHS and for us all.."
More than 3.2 million people across the UK have now been vaccinated against the Coronavirus.
Those who have been vaccinated include almost 45 per cent of UK residents over 80-years-old and 40 per cent of care home residents.
