AS SPORTS like cricket are on hold, we at The Mail are revisiting some of the memories of Furness Cricket Club.

In May 2015, Furness took on Cleator Cricket club in a hard-fought contest.

Players included Cleator batsman Will Benson, who put on an impressive play for his club.

The day included several pieces of good play and sportsmanship.

In June of that year, South Lakes Kwik Cricket Festival was held at the Furness club. Our Lady of the Rosary faced off against Dane Ghyll, who began the match as the bowlers.

2017 saw another year of exciting games at Furness club.

In June they were paid a visit by old rivals Cockermouth which saw the visitors play hard and fast with their bowling. Furness had to draw on all their experience to match them and put on a hard-fought game for the visitors.

In 2018, Furness saw two its stars Wyll Stanway and Josh Shaw make a name for themselves in Australia after spending the off-season honing their skills in the tough environment.

2019 saw Furness take on Carlisle in the Cumbria Cricket League. Despite their best efforts Carlisle claimed the win by sic wickets on their own patch.
