A LAKE District mountain rescue team has been selected for a supermarket chain's fundraising scheme as it seeks money for the refurbishment of its headquarters.
A spokesman for Coniston Mountain Rescue Team (CMRT) announced on Facebook that CMRT had been selected for the next round of the Co-op Local Community Fund, which begins on October 25 and will run until October 23.
The spokesman said: "During this time local Co-op members will be able to select us as their cause, helping to raise money for us every time they shop (please note, this doesn’t include Coniston or Langdale Co-ops, which are independent).
"The last time we were selected for this fund we raised nearly £4,000, so please spread the word to as many people as possible!"
The money would go towards a revamp of the team's HQ.
