CARAVAN sites will remain open for those using them as their primary residence throughout lockdown.
Simon Fell, MP for Barrow and Furness, has reassured residents that caravan sites will continue to be open for those with nowhere else to go.
Similar to the previous lockdown, caravan parks across the country will remain open for permanent residents but closed for holiday makers.
In England, overnight stays away from primary residences are not allowed from today until December 2, except for specific exceptions such as work.
Those on a domestic holiday 'should return to your home as soon as practicable', and are subject to the requirements in England not to go out without a reasonable excuse.
Simon Fell, MP for Barrow and Furness, said: "Not everyone currently on a caravan park has somewhere else to go - that’s why, just like in the first lockdown, the guidance is that sites should remain open for those using them as their primary residence, and also for people who would otherwise have nowhere to go.
"If residents are having difficulties, my office can help so please get in touch."
The Caravan and Motorhome Club, which has a number of sites in Cumbria including: Coniston, Grange, Kendal and Penrith issued a statement in regards to the lockdown.
A spokesman said: “Following the UK Government announcement which will place the whole of England into a countrywide lockdown, it is likely that the Club will have to temporarily close its network of campsites in England until the Government advises that we are able to reopen them (currently forecast for the beginning of December)."
