A RESCUE team were called to the aid of a stranded dog yesterday (September 3) morning.

Keswick Mountain Rescue Team (KMRT) were requested to help Brody, a 14 -week-old Cockapoo, who got his own surprise when he fell off Surprise View - a 25 metre drop which overlooks Derwentwater.

Eleven team members were alerted to the dog's plight, in a mission that took one hour and fifty five minutes.

According to KMRT Brody's owners could hear their dog from the view point after he fell, but could not see him.

One owner managed to get to the base of the crag and locate the dog,but could not reach him, as he was perched on a ledge half way up the cliff.

Eventually the rescue team reached the party and a team member was lowered down by rope, who quickly found Brody.

Brody seemed 'amazingly' uninjured according to a later statement from the rescue team.

After securing Brody in a rucksack the team member was lowered further down the drop to the owner, who was also secured, and both lowered again to safer ground below.

KMRT said Brody and his owners seemed delighted after being reunited.

However Brody's owners booked an appointment with a local vet to double check that all was well.
