Angela Webb said: “I agree that it is a minority. If only we could identify these people and find out why they do it because I totally don’t understand. It makes zero sense to me. Once again, a minority are completely ruining it for the majority.”

Angela McIlvogue said: “Just playing devil's advocate... But maybe they were caught short! Open toilets! Don’t shoot me.”

Stephen Jay said: “Toilets are closed and people are encouraged to visit these places, what do they expect? Especially when it concerns children.”

Cup of respect said: “According to recent reports the vast majority of visitors have never been to the Lakes previously. It would appear the majority of these live in slums, given the amount of detritus they leave behind. One can only hope Spain, Greece and other European holiday hotspots open their borders and take back our £2 a pint and chips with everything morons. PLEASE.”

Leebo69 said: “What animals! I know toilets are closed but its no surprise they been closed for months now and no excuse for it.”

The Omen said: “Why were some of the car parks on the east side closed last weekend? This simply exacerbated the problem. Closing off the road completely will increase traffic heading to other venues. Coniston Water is a great facility for locals and tourists alike and the authorities should be encouraging its use by improving parking and toilet facilities. We need more areas like Brown Howe where people pay a reasonable charge. Stop being precious and keep the lakes open for everyone!”

Barrow Lad said: “Maybe deposit it in a doggy bag and then it wouldn’t be so offensive as society appears to be tolerant to non-human deposits.”

Jimbob211 said: “How did you know it was human excrement, did one of the locals spot it?”
