THIS expanding business has been nominated for Trader of the Week after what it has accomplished in such a short space of time.

Jenny Stitches is a quality dress fabrics and haberdashery based in Barrow Market Hall and has been trading since May 2019.

Owner Jenny Fazackerly decided to open the market stall after the closure of a popular dress shop on Scott Street due to the owner retiring.

The 34-year-old said: “I have always wanted to have a business of my own and I saw a gap in the market when the shop on Scott Street closed.

“I was worried there would not be a shop for dresses anymore.

“I have recently launched an online shop and we have expanded into the neighbouring stall.

“We knocked down the wall and renovated it nicely to give customers more room to look around.

“I think it has been a bit of a success story.

"We put a lot of work into expanding our product range and listening to customer feedback.

“I would like to say thank you to my mum and my husband James for all their help as well as the other traders in the market who have been brilliant.

“It is a privilege to be nominated for an award like this and it is great customer feedback really.”

The expansion was officially opened by Barrow Mayor Kevin Hamilton on Saturday and Jenny would like people to come and visit her new stall to see the expanded product range she now has.

Jacqui Armstrong, administration assistant for Barrow Market Hall, said: “It’s always a pleasure to see a new business make a success in the market hall and expand into a double stall.

"We are all very proud of Jenny and what she’s achieved in such a short time.

Jenny is an accountant by trade who lives in the Barrow area.

She decided she wanted a career change after a personal tragedy made her rethink what she wanted to do with her life.

The mother of two said: “I am a qualified accountant and have been for about 10 years, but I just fancied a career change really.

“I sell everything dress related - fabrics and patterns mainly, plus everything you would expect to find in a haberdashery.

“I want people to come and see the new stall and our expanded range.”
