JABUTI Theatre's highly imaginative artistic director Rachael Macintyre creates theatre that's accessible for everyone.
Next Thursday, November 28, Rachael and her innovative theatre company bring an "ingenious gem"- according to Irene Brown, of Edinburgh Guide -
to the Beggar's Theatre at Millom.
Based on author and illustrator Marie-Louise Gay's classic picture book of the same name, Moonbeam on a Cat's Ear uses puppetry, movement and music to tell the story of children Rosie and Toby, their cat, a mouse and the secret adventure they have at night when they steal the moon and go sailing.
A visual journey into an exciting world of dreams and imagination, Jabuti Theatre’s adaptation captures the beauty and detail of Marie-Louise’s illustrations using physical theatre, puppetry and magical light boxes and brings it all to life with a mesmerising original musical soundscape and score. Using only the text from the book (original in English and French), it is a simple, yet visually compelling story about two children and their adventure with the moon.
Suitable for children from age three.
Performances at 10am and 1.30pm.
Meanwhile, the Millom theatre's 2020 line-up includes Mari Wilson: The Pop Deluxe Tour on February 20, featuring songs from all Mari's albums, including 1982's Showpeople.
Award-winning singer and musical theatre star Patti Boulaye brings her one-woman Aretha and Me tribute to the Queen of soul Aretha Franklin to Beggar's Theatre on March 6, and another must-see show will be multi-million selling soul band The Real Thing playing Millom on March 14.
