AN ex-Ulverston student will be going the distance for a great cause.
Josh Callon, from Newby Bridge, will be running the 2019 Great North Run in Newcastle on Sunday in aid of St Mary’s Hospice, in Ulverston.
The hospice offers invaluable service to the community of South Cumbria who are living with life-shortening or long term conditions.
Mr Callon started as a volunteer at the hospice at the same time he studied his A levels at Ulverston Victoria High School, working two nights a week for two years before starting at Liverpool Medical School in 2014.
He said: “I’ll be running the event during my first year as a qualified doctor and I’d like to give something back to the place where I learnt so much about the importance of quality care, communication, team work and empathy.”
